This project aims to address big political questions such as the hierarchies of place and related social inequalities, the concept of class in the contemporary neoliberal economy, the imminent crises and futures of the world and humanity at large. It will do so using ethnographic video material from two in-depth interviews with two natives from across Europe, one from a west-northern EU country (Ireland) and the other from a south-eastern non-EU country (Serbia). Specifically, the following lecture-discussion will be divided into three parts, each dedicated to one debate topic: (1) the North-South divide, (2) concepts of class and class solidarity today, and (3) imaginaries of the present and the future. Note that the medium of photography will be used primarily for the introductory considerations in which we present our case studies.
