Abstract
In the present study, we investigate the processing of transparent vs. opaque forms regarding grammatical gender in Brazilian Portuguese by means of event-related potentials recording. To this end, six native speakers of Brazilian Portuguese were asked to perform a grammatical judgment task of gender agreement. The results suggest that transparent forms and opaque forms are processed by distinct neurophysiological mechanisms.
