This presentation summarises progress made in mapping placenames in SW Donegal. The region covered is Glencolmcille, Teelin, Kilcar, and Loughros. To date some 3,000 locations have been added to the ArcGIS map, with the name (almost entirely in Irish) and translation into English. In many cases, the locations also include links to photos, audio and video files of local people talking about the location (e.g., stories, poems), and to archival material and other sources of information related to the location. In this particular case, as the gathering was themed to the importance of local bogs and bogland, a particular emphasis was placed on placenames related to bogs, marches, moors etc.
