Abstract
In this chapter, we argue that a first step to reconciling the climate and trade regimes is to ensure that the prices of internationally traded products reflect the climate-related harm of producing and consuming these goods. After delineating the role for border carbon adjustment mechanisms to internalize climate externalities, we broaden the discussion to potential reforms of the vision, rules, and procedures of the WTO system, to better align it with the sustainability agenda.
