3 year project. Currently at start of 2nd year.
Aim is to develop and evaluate systems for automatic content-based browsing/retrieval of broadcast video.
Methods employed for shot boundary detection:
- Colour Histogram Comparison.
- Edge Detection.
- Analysis of compressed video stream (motion vector and macroblock ratios).
- (Most importantly) combinations of the above.
This paper reports results for the first of these methods on a large test suite.
