- Try to address problem of inadequate test set.
- Baseline:
- 8 hours (720000 frames) of broadcast television in MPEG-1 format, stored in 24 20-minute segments.
- Manually generated log files for each segment (huge time investment, and boring!)
- Content rich: contains locations and types of shot, scene, and program boundaries.
- Allows us to compare our automatic shot boundary detection results with a “ground truth”.
