Cadwell, Patrick orcid logoORCID: 0000-0002-2371-4378 (2025) Training for translation and interpreting in armed conflicts and cascading crises. In: Todorova, Marija and Rosendo, Lucía Ruiz, (eds.) Routledge Handbook of Translating and Interpreting Conflict. Routledge, London. ISBN 9781032407012

Abstract
This chapter considers training for translation and interpreting in conflicts and crises. It explains the situatedness of these practices and argues that their common situational factors help explain their training. It presents a thematic overview of the research that has been conducted to date on training in this field of enquiry, covering such themes as the agents involved, the needs that they present, the training approaches that are taken, and examples of the training given. The chapter concludes with a discussion of pressing issues related to targeting and standardising training, interagent training, training evaluation, and training policy.
