The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY), Hub na nÓg1 and the National Disability Authority (NDA)2 formed a partnership to produce resources for policy-makers and those who facilitate the participation of disabled children and young people in decision-making, with a particular focus on those who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). The aim of this scoping document is to provide advice on approaching participative processes and initiatives in the most accessible and inclusive way possible. It includes specific methodologies for this purpose, as well as practical considerations for ensuring that such processes and initiatives are accessible for all children and young people, including children and young people who are non-speaking.
