Exploring the Chinese Revolution Today

Sheehan, Helena (2025) Exploring the Chinese Revolution Today. Monthly Review, 77 (6). pp. 41-55. ISSN 0027 0520

Abstract
This is about conceptualising the path taken by China since the revolution in 1949, first from a distance and then closer-up when teaching at Peking University. It deals with issues of historiography, focusing on periods of revolution, reform and rebalancing, and debates about whether China is capitalist or socialist. It features books, tv drama and personal experiences in exploring these issues.
